Scraping for AI training is killing small websites like ours.
Traffic from users is drowned out by bots at a factor of 100 to 1.
At times, the load on our server from bots makes our server so
unresponsive we can't get in to administer it.
This page is a tiny, but currently effective, mitigation. All
we are doing is storing a small cookie in your browser, and
then checking for it when you visit our site. This works
because scraping bots don't bother with cookies or javascript.
The cookie we store has no identifying information in it. Here it
